Running injury and rehab
I have been to see a physiotherapist - for the first time in my life. I have to strengthen the deep muscles in my stomach that give my hips stability when I run. "You aren't young any more", was the message.
What is really hard is finding something else that gives me the same effect as running. The freedom, rhythm and release of running. The way my thoughts and ideas flowed. I don't feel very hopeful in finding a substitute. But I guess it has made me realize the importance of finding your thing. A life without THE THING is just no fun. There is something about the freedom of the body while running that takes me places (within/without) which I don't otherwise find. I am both free and yet at the same time engaged in something very predictable. There is nothing more predictable than running. One foot in front of the other in a regular pattern. Arms swinging in a predictable way. Every step is identical to the last. And yet it FEELS like freedom.
