Just back from a lecture at HDK. It was about the artist as teacher- throught the work of Sharon Lockhart and how she approaches the ntion of becoming. We heard a lot about perfomativity and identity and I sat there making "new" connections between old knowledge and experience. Or was it just that I remembered again what I had forgotten. Sometimes new knowledge feels like that for me; being reminded of things I already (almost) knew. 
 
Ellen Keys folkhem; we are not only a product of our family home, society is our home, it rears us. And she was against traditional text books and for fairytale books.
 
Choosing where we focus our interest makes us aware of more than we saw before. This is almost silly to write but sometimes its good to remember that this is a very important part of the artistic process.
 
It is in the process of doing that we become. Who said that?
 
Judith Butler feminist art-theorist questions the idea that our identity is finite. She states that we are in a state of endless becoming. The body is situated in time and space and it is around and with the body and we integrate with our surroundings and with others. 
 
Not just children are becoming, and children are not an anomaly ( deviation? in swedish undantag) 
 
From the socialist theorist Jaques Rancière come the idea that all knowledge has equivalent value. When it comes to knowledge there is no heirachy. He shakes up the idea of the passive spectator or pupil in his term the emancipated spectator. Roles of teacher and pupil are interchangable.
 
Just the fact that we choose to be a part of something ( go in to a gallery) we are participating. Activity exists on many different levels. 
 
Janusz Korczak whose redical visions of how to raise children and whose ideas are the basis of The conventions on the rights of the Child said that in children we can see the mystery of the human spectrum. He challenged us to think unconvetionally. Indeed worth keeing in mind especially in a time when what is understood to be usefull knowledge seems to have regressed to an all-time low.
